LITERARY AND ARTISTIC HERITAGE

Allahabad (now Prayagraj) has a storied tradition of literature and arts. It was a significant center during the Indian Renaissance and the Independence movement. The city has produced several prominent writers, poets, and artists. Notable literary figures such as Firaq Gorakhpuri, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Mahadevi Verma and Madan Mohan Malaviya have roots in Allahabad.
